What is WordPress?
WordPress is currently the most popular blog publishing application. WordPress was built using PHP and MySQL and is open source, which means it is freely available to everyone. It has many features including a user-friendly workflow, easy plugins and an advanced templating system. A blog is a type of web site, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order.
One of the great features of WordPress is that it includes widgets that can be rearranged without editing the PHP or HTML code, as well as themes that can be installed and switched between. WordPress also features integrated link management, a search engine-friendly, clean structure, the ability to assign nested, multiple categories to articles and support for tagging of posts and articles.
